Piercing Tapers are used to stretch the piercing. Pushing the taper through the piercing gradually will increase the size of the opening. It is recommended to stretch one size every two weeks to avoid tearing.
Tapers can provide quite an effective way of stretching. They can be made of acrylic, surgical steel or titanium, and are cone-shaped. The taper is lubricated and pushed gently into the piercing until resistance is met. It is then secured there with O-rings, until the piercing is ready to be stretched again.
